President's Letter - March 2009Dear Members, Happy March! Happy Spring! I hope you are all ready for a great month! We have our annual Make It, Bake It, or Fake It Live Auction on MARCH 19th (yes the 3rd Thursday not he second!) starting at 7:00pm, with a fun dinner before hand at 6:30, so you are not bidding on an empty stomach! See inside for details. This will take the place of our regularly scheduled March Meeting. If you have not been to one of these auctions before, you are in for a real treat! This is how it works…we ask everyone attending, and even if you are not, to participate by either making something to be auctioned off, bake something, or fake it and ask for a donation from you favorite store, spa, hair salon, restaurant, children’s activity location, etc ( I think you get the picture!). Then you come, early for dinner if you would like (just $6.00 with advance reservations), with your checkbook, sit back and bid away at some wonderful items. Suzie F has been working very hard at getting some great donations. Do not let this part stop you from coming...items that have done well include ready made dinners (like a lasagna or Sheppard’s’ pie) that can be popped into the freezer until the family is ready to eat it, fun-filled goody baskets with homemade treats, items that you are so talented to be able to make like special beads or blankets. These are all within your realm of doing! And it just adds to the fun! If you have any questions, contact Suzie. Looking forward to seeing you on MARCH 19th! Also in March is our Spring Garage Sale…If you are ready to do your spring cleaning and are looking for some extra cash, this is for you! The dates are March 27-28. The 27th is for members and prospective members only from 7-8:30. See inside for more info on how you can be a vendor, or the when and where to shop! This is also the time of year the club starts to look for individuals who want to meet others, have a good time, and give back to the club. The club is looking for those members who would like to serve on the board for the 2009-2010 year. If you are interested, please contact me so I can give you some more information on the different positions available. If you have ever thought about trying something new, the board is a great place to brush up on new skills. It also a great addition to your resumeJ The club has been a great source of support for me and I have enjoyed serving on the board for the past several years. I am really hoping that others can share this great experience. I know everyone has time constraints and maybe some extra stress around the house due to the economy. Being a part of an organization that is for you could give you the extra something you might be looking for. I have been able to get to know some extraordinary women and men better by being more of a part of this organization. I highly recommend getting more involved! Our club is at a pivotal point in its life, and participation is what is needed to allow the club to continue. If you feel called, please consider a position on the board to allow this club to continue as successfully as it has for the past 25 years! Maybe you can’t serve on the board but you want to meet others, you could volunteer to head a playgroup or committee. Maybe that even seems overwhelming to you, come out and just join us at the meetings! We are a group to support others at every level! I look forward to seeing everyone on March 19th…yes I know it is the 3rd Thursday this month! And remember to start tagging for March 27th! I thank everyone who supports this organization and all of its activities. We could not exist without the support of every member!
